WREX — ComEd is introducing a program in the new year aiming to help families save a little money on their electric bills each month.

The Low-Income Discount Program will start January 1st and will allow families who make below a certain amount of money to receive a discount each month, which will depend on income.

This comes as they work to help out those in Northern Illinois that need it.

"ComEd constantly looks for ways to reduce the bills. We know that there is the High Impact Bill last June coming through. ComEd serves just about nine million people and many of those are affected by low income and high costs," George Gaulrapp, the External Affairs Manager for ComEd said.

The new program will be paid for by all users, with everyone expected to see a small fee for the service regard
