DES MOINES, Iowa —

A new survey reveals Iowa voters who identify as Democrats want their caucuses to have a more prominent role in the 2028 presidential election, according to a new survey by the Iowa Democratic Party.

The survey found 65% of Iowa Democrats want the caucuses to be first or early in 2028 to better influence the nominating process. Additionally, 74% of respondents want participation to be easier for caucusgoers and want to see higher turnout.

"The bottom line is Iowans must have an early role in the 2028 presidential nominating process, and the process needs to be more accessible and inclusive," said Rita Hart, chair of the Iowa Democratic Party.
