FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Attorney General Russell Coleman wants to resume executions back up for death row inmates in Kentucky and is seeking clarification on a temporary injunction passed in 2010.
Ralph Baze, who was sentenced to death more than 30 years ago for the murders of a sheriff and deputy in Powell County, is back at the center of the death penalty discussion.
In 2010, there was a temporary injunction preventing the execution of another death row inmate. A judge has kept that injunction in place, putting a pause on next steps for those on death row.
There has not been an execution in the commonwealth since 2008. Chief Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd questioned the insanity regulations.
