LOWELL, Mich. — As Lowell Township continues to seek the public's input on a rezoning ordinance that would allow an IT infrastructure data center to be built, planning commission chairman David Simmons said that he welcomed the large crowd.
“Of course, this was kind of a hot item, you know, hot topic, but that's okay," Simmons said. "They're letting us know what they think, and that's what we want to do.”
More than 100 people showed up to the planning commission meeting Monday night at the Lowell Charter Township Hall. However, that proved to be a problem for the meeting as that exceeded the number of people that were allowed to be there.
The commission made the decision to reschedule the public hearing so they could hold it in a larger venue to account for the expected crowd.
