OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha’s police chief and more than a dozen police officers now face a federal lawsuit in connection to a traffic stop that captured social media attention.

Three passengers in Terence “Bud” Crawford’s car at the time of the stop accuse the officers of violating their constitutional rights for pointing their guns at them after they had been legally informed of his gun.

Qasim Shabazz, Crawford’s head of security, is one of the people who filed a lawsuit.

Crawford, who was cited and pleaded not guilty to careless driving last week, is not a plaintiff in the lawsuit.

Lawsuit allegations

In the filing, Shabazz says he immediately told the officer he had a gun on him.
