R&B singer Alexander O’Neal and his wife, Cynthia, were hospitalized after a fire destroyed their Burnsville apartment early Dec. 5, just hours after the musician was released from a nearly two-week hospital stay.
Cynthia O’Neal told TMZ she woke around 1 a.m. to see flames on the cord to her husband’s oxygen machine. Alexander O’Neal burned his foot while attempting to extinguish the fire before the mattress ignited, according to the report.
The couple escaped their third-floor apartment and called 911, Parade reported. Paramedics took both to a nearby hospital, where Cynthia O’Neal was examined and released. The singer underwent additional lung testing before he was discharged later that day.
