Three of the four local high school hockey teams were in action over the weekend.

The Jeffers Jets earned a pair of wins over the weekend, one over Byron Center and the other over host Sault Ste. Marie. The Houghton Gremlins split in Grand Rapids, defeating East Grand Rapids before falling to Grandville. The Calumet Copper Kings dropped a game to Escanaba on Friday.

SAULT STE. MARIE — The Jets defeated Byron Center Friday at Big Bear Arena in Sault Ste. Marie Friday, 4-1.

The two teams skated to a 1-1 tie after one period. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the second, but the Jets (7-1 overall) struck three times in the third to earn the win.

Tage Rajala got the Jets on the board with a goal 56 seconds into the game. His unassisted tally was his third of the year.
