In a rare move, Saudi Arabia has eased its longstanding strict curbs on alcohol sales, but only for a select group of non-Muslim foreign residents. If you are a non-Muslim and your monthly income is about $13,300 (around Rs 12 lakh), you can grab a beer by walking into the country's only liquor store in Riyadh, according to Bloomberg.

The development marks a notable policy shift in the Islamic country where several Muslims avoid alcohol together in keeping with Quranic teachings. It is also home to Islam's two holiest sites. However, in recent years, the kingdom has done away with several staunch rules, like the ban on driving by women.
