The Little Traverse Historical Society is inviting the public to its annual Christmas Open House on Friday, Dec. 12.

The event will run from 6-8 p.m. at the society's museum, 100 Depot Court in Petoskey, according to a community announcement. The celebration will feature cocoa and cookies.

The museum also plans to kick off the celebration of America's 250th anniversary a bit early, with a large Christmas tree decorated in red, white and blue.

Attendees can look forward to a display of official White House Christmas ornaments. Howard Richards will return to play carols on the Hemingway piano, and there will also be a group carol sing. Happy the Horse, formerly from the Circus Shop, will be on display as a backdrop for Christmas photos.
