Two people are in critical condition after a crash involving an ambulance on Monday night, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the crash happened in Haines City around 8:30 p.m. on U.S. 27 and Lucerne Park Road and involved an ambulance and a truck.

The ambulance was carrying three occupants: a driver and two passengers. The three were taken to a hospital.

Deputies said the driver of the ambulance has been released, while the two occupants are in critical condition.

The driver of the truck was also taken to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to deputies.

Investigators in Polk County are now trying to determine what led to a crash.
