HOPKINTON, R.I. (Gray News) - Police in Rhode Island said a woman with over 100 prior arrests has been taken into custody in connection to a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

The Hopkinton Police Department said officers were called to Saturday’s one-car crash on Spring Street at about 7:20 a.m.

According to investigators, 41-year-old Shannon Godbout was driving eastbound on Spring Street when she left her lane, crashed into two telephone poles and then the pedestrian who was walking his dogs on the shoulder.

The victim was identified by Hopkinton police as 70-year-old Roderick Macleod. He died from his injuries after being transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Godbout was arrested at the scene and transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
