An Edinburgh man has been sentenced to eight years and four months in prison following a 'machete murder bid' and the discharge of a firearm linked to a gang war which saw violence erupt across the central belt this year.

Arran Reid, 27, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday. Officers were made aware of the attempted murder of a 54-year-old man on Pitcairn Grove in Edinburgh at around 9.20pm on Thursday, May 22.

At the time we reported how David McMillan, ally of caged mob boss Mark Richardson, was targeted in the attack outside his home. The 54-year-old was targeted by thugs several times which also saw his property and vehicles torched during the night.
