The son of 56-year-old Patricia McSperitt, who was shot and killed at a home in the 28600 block of West Hill Road southwest of Eugene on July 16, has filed a $999,000 tort claim against the man who allegedly killed her.

The wrongful death complaint, filed Dec. 2 by Austin Allen Bonini on behalf of Patricia's estate, in the Lane County Circuit Court, claims Ralph "Bill" William McSperitt, 56, of Lorane "violently assaulted" his wife, Patricia, in their home, causing severe injuries to her head and face.
