Coronation Street legend William (Bill) Roache has said the show is 'still going strong' as he was seen giving a rare message to mark a huge milestone for the long-running soap.

The actor is famed for playing Ken Barlow in the ITV soap, having made his debut in the soap's very first episode in 1960. Fast forward six decades and the acting legend is still appearing in the much-loved programme as the Barlow patriarch - with seemingly no plans to stop with reports suggesting he's signed another year-long contract.

And as he is a huge part of Corrie history, Bill was the one chosen to deliver a message to fans of the programme on Tuesday (December 9) as they marked 65 years on air.
