Both Iowa State and Kansas State Universities opted out of playing in a bowl game following coaching departures.

Facing similar circumstances, the University of Toledo football team could have easily buried its head in the sand and pondered doing the same, but is instead heading to Boca Raton with pride.

“I don't think opting out would ever happen with the culture that's been created in this whole program, going back many years to all those that have competed,” Rockets interim head coach Robert Weiner said. “It is a full-fledged yes that we're going to move forward with everything that we possibly can have for this game.”

Toledo will face Louisville in the Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans on Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. with the game being televised on ESPN.
