DES MOINES, Iowa —

The search for Des Moines' next fire chief has been narrowed down to four finalists, with city officials conducting interviews this week.

The candidates include:

Jonathan Lund, Des Moines' fire marshal and a 17-year veteran of the department

David McCabe, retired fire chief of the Aurora, Illinois, Fire Department

Michael Mire, assistant fire chief of the Houston, Texas, Fire Department

Bryan Norris, who retired as the emergency management coordinator from the San Antonio, Texas, Fire Department

A new fire chief is expected to be named next month.
