WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Rain and snow fell in eastern Carolina on Monday, and this morning’s freezing temperatures raised the risk of dangerous road conditions.

The roads in Williamston looked clear and safe to drive through this morning despite yesterday’s precipitation.

A thin layer of snow dusted cars, mailboxes and signs around town, while puddles on some roads were not iced over.

Martin County Sheriff Drew Robinson said in an update around 5 a.m. that most roads had some moisture on them, but deputies could not find any ice on main or secondary roads.

The Highway 13/17 bridge leading to Bertie County was also free of ice this morning, according to the sheriff.

However, all drivers should still be cautious of possible slick spots or black ice.
