Florida Highway Patrol said the driver who fled a deadly hit-and-run crash in Orange County on Monday has been identified.

Troopers said a 2003 Honda Accord was traveling on Silver Star Road, approaching Le Harvey Boulevard in the center lane.

As the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Silver Star Road, a pedestrian stepped into the roadway, directly into the vehicle's path. As a result, the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

Troopers said the driver immediately stepped out of the vehicle and began assisting the pedestrian.

That's when a second vehicle failed to stop and struck both of them.

Residents of a small apartment complex on Silver Star Road, near the Stag Horn Villas Apartments, are familiar with tragedy on the busy street.
