AVON LAKE, Ohio (WOIO) - Avon Lake City Council members approved the purchase of the former Erieview Elementary School at their Monday evening meeting.
The school building, along with the 9.48-acre property at 32630 Electric Blvd., will be turned into a community center.
Erieview Elementary opened in 1951 and was closed after the 2024-2025 school year as part of the school district’s consolidation play.
The total purchase prices is $500,000.
“This purchase is a win-win for our community,” said Avon Lake Mayor Mark Spaetzel. “The Erieview building is a valuable community asset that is well-positioned to support recreational programs year-round, and it is in a great location.
