A clipper system is moving across Michigan today and will bring additional snow Tuesday night, Dec. 9, into Wednesday, Dec. 10, across parts of the Lower Peninsula.

Winter weather advisories and warnings are in effect statewide because of forecast heavy snow accumulation and strong winds that could create dangerous travel.

"As this clipper system ejects eastward into the Northern Plains and upper Midwest late today (Dec. 9), a swath of moderate to locally heavy snow is expected develop along the northern flank of the low center," the National Weather Service said. "This clipper system is forecast to quickly intensify , producing an expanding area of very strong and gusty winds to accompany the snow. By tomorrow morning (Dec. 10), the maturing clipper migrates into the lower Great Lakes
