Waymo driverless robotaxis operate in cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix.
The company has announced plans to add Detroit to the list of cities it serves.
It was a Sunday morning in Los Angeles late last month, and a photographer and I needed to get to the LA Auto Show.
For the previous several days, we’d seen the unmistakable white Waymo vehicles equipped with a variety of visible sensors on the city streets as we headed to and from the Los Angeles Convention Center.
We were either walking or riding in a Lyft (it actually poured one night while were there). We’d discussed giving the Waymo a try, but the other two options were familiar and when you’re in a hurry you don’t often opt for additional complication.
