GREEN BAY — Christian Watson’s game ball appreciation speech also came with a confession — in front of a locker room full of Green Bay Packers teammates who couldn’t have been happier for their one-of-a-kind wide receiver.

After head coach Matt LaFleur tossed him the ball and running back Josh Jacobs and wide receiver Jayden Reed shoved Watson to the center of the large “G” on the floor as others chanted “Speech! Speech!,” the room fell silent.

Watson had caught a pair of touchdown passes during Sunday’s 28-21 victory over the archrival Chicago Bears — a game in which Watson scored nearly half the Packers’ points on 23- and 41-yard touchdowns, and a game he’d been doing his best not to link with what had happened to him the last time the Bears came to Lambeau Field .
