NEW HOPE, Pa. (WPVI) -- There's no one better tasked to spread Christmas cheer than Buddy the Elf!

The musical adaptation of the popular holiday film about a human raised by elves is on stage now at the Bucks County Playhouse.

There's also a lot of local star power behind this infusion of holiday joy.

Gloucester Township's Chris Stevens plays Buddy.

"He's trying to just convey that Santa is real," Stevens says. "The magic's real. It's all real. This is very much me. I love Christmas, and I love musical theater. Buddy is silly, he's goofy, he's obviously tall. But there's also this heart with Buddy that is just pure."

Buddy has been a holiday fan favorite since the Christmas classic "Elf" first hit the big screen in 2003.

Now, it's been magically transformed into a musical.
