A poll of 2,000 adults revealed a fifth of Brits have never attempted to cook a Christmas dinner – with 61% of these saying they wouldn’t know where to start. What’s more, nearly a third of Brits say they are not fans of traditional festive foods, and have added sausage rolls, smoked salmon and profiteroles to their Christmas Day menus instead.
The poll showed many have never tasted a Brussels sprout, a yule log, pigs in blankets or a mince pie. And while 27% have never tried a prawn cocktail – considered a classic Christmas starter – others have avoided a glass sherry, and even mulled wine. To help keep old favourites on the menu and inspire more people into the kitchen this Christmas, chef Rustie Lee has shared her top tips to prepare a Christmas dinner, without breaking the bank.
