Popular drummer Bryan Keeling died over the weekend after a long battle with cancer, and his loss left many in the rock and country music world heartbroken.

Keeling died on Dec. 6, just three days shy of his 60 th birthday.

While it may be little consolation to those who loved him, Keeling gave his thoughts on death, in a GoFundMe post back in March in which he revealed his cancer was terminal.

“I CAN tell you that I have come to peace with death if that’s coming within months or … longer,” he wrote. “But realistically, I have come to terms with it and I’m grateful for the life I’ve had and I’m grateful for my son, my friends, doctors, everybody that has supported me throughout my career and on Facebook and in real life!
