CANTON ‒ A 52-year-old man has died 10 days after being hit by a car at Harmont Avenue and 34th Street NE.

Eugene P. Rogers died at 6:46 p.m. Dec. 8.

He was pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital after life support was turned off, said Tamara "Tammy" Wilkes, a death investigator for the Stark County Coroner's Office. His family donated his organs, she said.

A Canton police report about the collision indicates Rogers was hit by a gray 2007 Toyota Prius while he was walking west on 34th Street on the north side of the road. The driver of the westbound Prius, a 55-year-old Massillon man, left the scene and has since been identified.

The motorist was not injured in the crash, which occurred at 8:53 pm. Nov. 28.
