Proposals for "expanded" and "enhanced" facilities at a Sunderland secondary school have been lodged with council development chiefs.

Sunderland City Council's planning department has received submissions for Kepier School, situated off Dairy Lane in the city's Houghton ward, requesting approval for a fresh classroom block, outdoor dining shelter and additional performing arts facilities.

Accompanying planning documentation reveals the schemes are designed to "expand and enhance the existing school facilities to accommodate the growing demand for pupil places and improve the overall learning environment."
