On December 9, ESPN insider Shams Charania shared comments from a high-ranking NBA executive about the 6–18 Clippers. The executive questioned why the team keeps chasing wins instead of making trades to protect its long-term future and rebuild.

“Instead of trying to win every game to prevent Oklahoma City from receiving a top-five pick, could the Clippers make a trade or trades to better position themselves for the next five years,” the executive said via Shams Charania.
