A violent stabbing inside a Philadelphia home left a man fighting for his life, police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Officers rushed to the 100 block of South Ruby Street at approximately 12:06 a.m., where they found a man on the second floor suffering from a stab wound to the chest, according to the release.
The victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition, authorities said.
Nyeemia Maxey, 39, was found on the first floor and admitted to stabbing the man before being taken into custody, police said. A 44-year-old woman who witnessed the stabbing as sustained a cut to her hand and was also taken to Penn Presbyterian.
Maxey was transported to Jefferson Hospital for a neck injury, according to police.
One knife with apparent blood stains was recovered at the scene
Maxey has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and related offenses, police said.
