BALTIMORE -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have jumped right into the Adam Thielen experiment and made him the team’s WR2 in his first game with the team.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling also played 16 snaps, giving the team a new, refurbished look to its room with the two veterans involved. Thielen played 25 snaps overall, and Mike Tomlin was pleased with what he saw out of his wide receivers.

“Exactly what you said, because of the veteran receivers,” Tomlin said.

Roman Wilson, who had received more snaps in recent games, did not see the production follow. He had won on some outside go balls, but the quarterbacks have routinely fallen short in getting the ball to him. As a result, he was benched and made a gameday inactive despite being healthy.

This will be Thielen’s last NFL season, and so
