HARTLAND, Mich. (WILX) - A Michigan teacher is out of a job after making what school officials call a bad “joke involving” students just before Thanksgiving.

A letter to parents from Hartland Consolidated Schools Superintendent Chuck Hughes says the teacher — who has not been named publicly — dressed the students up as turkeys on Nov. 21 for a Thanksgiving picture.

“Unfortunately, the teacher made an extremely unwise decision to also have an image of a hunter with a gun displayed on the interactive board behind them when the picture was taken,” the letter said.
