Power is back on for thousands of Mahoning County residents in Youngstown and Austintown.

According to the FirstEnergy website, 2,468 customers in the Austintown area were without power as of 10:50 p.m.

Additionally, 1,789 customers in Youngstown are also reported to be without power.

A spokesperson for FirstEnergy tells 21 News power was restored for a majority of customers within an hour, but there were still just under 240 customers affected around the 4 a.m. hour. Power has since been restored to those customers as well.

The FirstEnergy spokesperson says the cause of the outage was damaged equipment. FirstEnergy is still working to find the cause of the damage.
