LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Monday, the Trump Administration announced that $12 billion has been allocated toward bridging payments for farmers who have been impacted by market disruptions.

The funds have been made available for one-time bridge payments in response to temporary trade market disruptions and increased production costs. This marks a step toward relief over a problem that has been building for years.

“We're very grateful that this problem has been acknowledged, and this announcement today was a really big step towards making a dent at some of the problems that farmers are facing. But we have to remember that these problems have been building for years,” said Mark Isbell, a fourth-generation rice farmer in Lonoke County and co-owner of Isbell Farms.
