OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day in history five years ago, crews began major demolition work at the Crossroads Mall.

An excavator started tearing down the Sears Auto Center that sat along Dodge Street.

The site was supposed to have been redeveloped into retail, restaurants, a hotel, apartments and office space by last year. That did not happen.

There is a new developer , and in September we were told they hope to have the first retail and events space complete late next year or in early 2027.
