RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A person who police say was the victim of a scam was at the center of a bomb threat made against a south Reno Wells Fargo.
At around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, officers with the Reno Police Department responded to a reported bomb threat made to the bank, located at 497 S Meadows Parkway.
Police secured the area, evacuated customers and employees and detained the individual involved.
An investigation determined that the individual involved had been deceived in a scam and had attempted to verify the scammer’s identity with a Wells Fargo employee.
Police determined that the scammer falsely reported that the individual was in possession of a bomb.
