ROCKFORD, Ill. — An inmate at a local jail was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead.

Just after 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, correctional officers found a 30-year-old woman, who was an inmate at the time, unresponsive in the Winnebago County Jail.

Correctional officers and on-site medical staff started life-saving measures right away.

The inmate was brought to a local hospital by paramedics, where she was later pronounced dead.

The woman's name was not mentioned in a release from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office.

The incident is being investigated by the Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force.
