ESPARTO, Calif. —
The company that ran a fireworks facility at the site of a massive explosion on July 1 in Esparto is now facing more than $200,000 in fines from the state's safety division.
Cal/OSHA issued 15 citations and fines for violations of the state safety regulations, including serious regulatory violations, three of which the agency tells KCRA 3 Investigates were directly related to the deadly incident. The citations were sent on Dec. 1.
Denisse Gomez, with the department of Industrial Relations and Cal/OSHA, said in an email that the citations are "including the employer's failure to establish, implement, and maintain an effective injury and illness prevention program; failure to train employees on what to do in an emergency, such as how to safely evacuate during a fire or e
