Beloit police investigate abandoned dog found dead at gas station

BELOIT, Wis. — A dead dog was found abandoned in a crate at a gas station Saturday morning, Beloit police said.

Officers responded to the gas station located in the 900 block of Brooks Street and found the dog lifeless.

In a statement, police said, "We want to thank the community for their care and compassion for this animal. We appreciate those who have advocated for this animal and have provided assistance and information."

Officials did not provide further information, but they did say more details will be shared after a thorough investigation is completed.
