The double murder trial in the deaths of two young women at a Fort Erie rental home almost five years ago has entered its eighth week.
Christopher Lucas, a 27-year-old Toronto rapper known as “El Plaga,” has pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Christine Crooks, 18, of Toronto, and Juliana Pannunzio, 20, of Windsor.
The women were shot and killed Jan. 19, 2021, during a house party at an Airbnb short-term rental property on Niagara Parkway.
The trial began in Superior Court of Justice in Welland in October.
On Tuesday, Justice James Ramsay told the six-man, six-woman jury if the case is not completed by Dec. 19, he would be adjourning the proceedings for two weeks.
