Though he still has two years left on the three-year contract he signed after the 2024 season, starting quarterback Davis Alexander has signed a one-year extension that will keep him with the Alouettes through 2028.

“We’re committed to him and he’s committed to this team, the city of Montreal and the province of Quebec,” general manager Danny Maciocia was quoted as saying in a team statement published Tuesday . “In his first year as our starting quarterback, Davis performed brilliantly. We’re excited to see where he’ll lead us over the next few years.”

Maciocia made the decision last year to continue with Alexander after concluding the team couldn’t afford to keep both him and Cody Fajardo, who led Montreal to a Grey Cup win only the previous season.
