A two-game winning streak didn’t just lift the Niagara IceDogs into sixth place in the Ontario Hockey League’s Eastern Conference; it also put the team back into power poll conversation.

Niagara vaulted four spots, from 17th to 13th, in the latest rankings Tuesday.

On the weekend, the IceDogs snapped a nine-game losing streak with come-from-behind victories over the Brampton Steelheads, 4-2 on the road, and the North Bay Battalion, 2-1 in overtime at home.

Rookie goaltender Vladislav Yermolenko, an import from Belarus, and Vancouver Canucks prospect Riley Patterson were key as Niagara started the month of December undefeated.

Yermolenko was named Mary Brown’s Chicken OHL Goaltender of the Week after stopping 59 of 62 shots for a .952 save percentage in the two games.
