The company facing an OPP criminal investigation into funding it received from the Ontario government will continue to serve as a mental health support for Peel Regional Police, the Star has learned.
Keel Digital Solutions got $2.7 million from the Labour Ministry’s controversial $2.5 billion Skills Development Fund in 2024 to launch a pilot project offering mental health peer training for Peel officers and other front-line responders, according to a confidential government database. It has since received another $4.97 million.
The Peel police support for Keel’s program comes after Monday’s revelation that Ontario Provincial Police are moving forward with a probe into money the Toronto-based company received from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
