HAMMEL – A 69-year-old Medford man was found dead Friday after he did not return from ice fishing on a Taylor County lake.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 4:17 p.m. Dec. 5 from a caller who said her husband had been ice fishing on the Washington Flowage earlier in the afternoon and had not returned home, according to a news release from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor County deputies along with Medford Fire personnel, Taylor County Emergency Management and Taylor County EMS personnel responded to the scene in the Taylor County town of Hammel.

When they arrived, emergency personnel found a single sled trail leading out to an open area on the ice. A sled was also found in the open area of water, according to the release.
