KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A University of Tennessee assistant professor who faces termination after state and university leaders said she celebrated Charlie Kirk's assassination and "endorsed violence and murder" is expected to appear in federal Wednesday afternoon.
The court was adjourned shortly after it began, because her attorney plans to file an amended complaint.
Tamar Shirinian named the university Chancellor Donde Plowman, President Randy Boyd and President of the UTK Faculty Senate Charles Noble. She claims her First Amendment rights were violated and she accused them of retaliation.
Shirinian is asking the court for a temporary restraining order in the case, asking the court to quickly make a ruling to prevent "imminent, irreparable harm" until a formal hearing can be held.
