The average Niagara Falls homeowner will see an increase in water and wastewater bills in 2026.

And they can expect to continue to see hikes in the years beyond that, warn city officials.

“We are seeing a very significant increase to our taxpayers this year (2026),” Coun. Ruth-Ann Nieuwesteeg said during Tuesday evening’s city council meeting.

“What about the next three to five years? Will this continue to increase at this rate?”

Finance director Tiffany Clark said it will likely be “more of the same” based on “signals” she’s reading from Niagara Region.

“We’ve kind of year-over-year came in around that six, seven, eight per cent increase range, and I have every indication that the Region will continue with the increases,” she said.
