Remember Theodore from the 2013 movie Her? A lonely writer who falls in love with Samantha, an intuitive AI operating system whose company brings him happiness and emotional reliability? The film may have been ahead of its time, but loneliness like Theodore’s is a reality in our high-speed life dominated by social media.

Two students at Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU) have developed an AI chatbot that not only measures a user’s loneliness and listens to their conversation but also suggests means to beat the isolation.
