A handful of snow dogs got a front row seat to one of the most beautiful natural events in the northern hemisphere.
Video obtained by USA TODAY shows the dogs, part of the Silver Ace Sled Dog Kennel , racing down a snow-covered path in Fairbanks, Alaska, under the northern lights and a super moon, as video obtained by USA TODAY shows.
The aurora borealis is frequently spotted in Fairbanks, especially during the winter months, according to Alaska.org , a locally run travel website.
"Fairbanks and points north are the sweet spots to see the northern lights," the site said. "This is because the main auroral band, the ring of geomagnetic particles around the Arctic Circle where the Northern Lights are most visible, crosses the state in an arc above the Alaska Range."
