SANTA MONICA—On Tuesday, December 9, the Santa Monica City Council met in a closed session discussion related to the future use of the Santa Monica Pier and the beach lot around it. There were five topics on the agenda. The use of Crescent Bay Park, Beach lot 4 South, and the Pier.

Los Angeles is securing appropriate venues to accommodate the upcoming traffic and revenue expected to pour into Los Angeles County during the World Cup, Superbowl, and the US Olympics. A production company, Silverback LLC, is negotiating with the SM City Council for usage of Crescent Bay Park and Beach Lot 4. Both Anheuser-Bush and ESPN have requested the use of the Pier. Concert promoter, Goldenvoice, would like to use 550 square feet of the sand and sea area south of the Santa Monica Pier.
