SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Three years after 22-year-old Steven Paul Colon was shot and killed in what authorities ruled a self-defense case, his father continues to demand justice for his son.

“It’s a bad terrible nightmare, it still feels like that some days,” Steve Colon said.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office initially handled the investigation and ruled the death justifiable under the state’s Stand Your Ground law. The alleged shooter was never convicted.

“This is very problematic. I don’t know how you close a case out and deem it justifiable homicide when the very results of the test that you ordered that your own organization ordered have not been received,” Colon said.
