As British Columbia deals with a mixed bag of bad weather , Alberta travellers headed west on Wednesday and Thursday can expect delays through the B.C. Interior.

A section of the Trans-Canada Highway is closed just east of Golden, B.C., due to a multi-vehicle collision, according to DriveBC . Drivers will have to detour using Highways 95 and 93, which adds an extra 90 minutes to the route.

Highway 1 is also closed between Golden and Revelstoke, B.C., due to planned avalanche control, which helps travellers avoid risk from unexpected avalanche flow reaching the highway. The closure is expected to lift at midnight.

Avalanche control work is also planned to begin between the Alberta-B.C. border and Field, B.C., on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. MST. A road closure will be in effect.
